You are absolutely right.  The Lancair airplanes are highly
sophistacated, expertly engineered, and on the cutting edge of the
general aviation industry.  That is why I was so excited to finally get
one and start building.   I can't wait to be flying.  My comments are
only my opinion.  I am not trying to take away from anybody else and
their capability and training.  But I have seen and heard of a lot of
low time pilots, IFR rated, that ate it in bad weather.  I have used my
helicopter to sling many airplanes to the nearest road for the insurance
companies.  They pay really well.
 
If you want to head out into the jaws of questionable weather go for it.
And enjoy.
