Bob,
The door seal is made of a silicone and I don't think it is repairable. We
wrecked one also, and finally replaced it.
A word of caution--we found that the air pump was rated at enough pressure to
make the door move outward into the slipstream. Finally we found that turning
on the switch for six seconds inflated the seal so that it seated nicely, but
did not distort the door frame.
As you know, you will pay hell trying to get the new seal attached to the door
frame with any adhesive. Try this--go to an automobile glass company and buy
a tube of the black polyurethane adhesive/sealant that installers use. I think
you will find it is much better than anything else. But, wear gloves, and
mask everything that is close to the seal, because the darned stuff will get
all over everything and it is black!
NOW--I have been biting my lip for several days now, and I have something to
say about the mercury thread, even if I am departing the lancair forum!
My credentials for this statement are beyond question. I am a chemist of
world stature. The fiber optic cables that this message is flowing through
contain chemicals that were made in my factory, as do the chips in your
computer. My specialty was the purification of inorganic chemicals.
In the early eighties, I saw a paper in a scientific journal in which they
discovered huge amounts of mercury metal being given off in exhaled breath of
subjects that had mercury amalgam fillings. The methodolgy and the place
where it was discovered were of such stature that I gave it serious
credibility.
I had been having a serious unexplained physical ailment for most of my life,
and I also had practically every tooth in my mouth full of mercury amalgam.
After giving it much thought, I proceeded to have my dentist remove every
single filling and replace it with porcelain caps or polymer fillings.
Within a year, my ailment, which at times was so debilitating that I couldn't
work, simply disappeared. I have never had another episode. That was fifteen
years ago!
It is well established that mercury in any level causes physiological events.
Dentists have the highest rate of suicide, due to the presence of mercury in
their offices. Are you depressed? Do you have stomach problems or muscular
problems? Do you have mercury fillings in your mouth? WELL, DUH!
'nuff said, David Jones, Pecatonica, Illinois
