Alain, I have the VMS 1000 with their fuel probes and the EC1000 circa 1998.
Works fine for me. I like to display the fuel flow and time remaining on the
EC1000 which is right above my primary instruments. I compare that with the
time remaining for the trip on the GPS to make sure the one remains larger
than the other. Readability has been fine for me. One note: the resolution
of the EGT and CHT is approx. 8 degrees F. I think the JPI system resolution
is 1 degree. The only time this was a problem for me was when I tried to map
my lean of peak operations for GAMI injectors consideration. Otherwise, it's
a clean installation. On the fuel system side, you can have the VMS people
program alarms on fuel level wherever you like. With a header tank, I chose
to set an alarm at 4 gallons, and alarms on both wing tanks at 2 gallons.
There is an additional alarm when total fuel drops below 10 gallons. By the
time I get to ten gallons there are a lot of alarms going off.
Regards,
Ed de Chazal
