Jim, I remember reading an old newsletter in which pictures showed the IV's gear being drop tested. I think it was droped at like 4 g's at gross weight and it deformed the gear leg 'like its supposed to' if I remember correctly. Lance was happy at that time and was quoted to have said something about 'well I guess those engineers DO know what their doing' or somthing to that effect. I don't remember what the weights where nor what the actual G loading was for sure but I'm going to have to go back and look now!

Hi Gerry,

I have my L4P registered at #3400 gross, which I think is recommended by almost everyone that I talked too. My airplane is heavy and seams to fly with an aft CG. I have flown it at #3550 lbs. with talk-offs at DA of 8500 ft. It does take longer to get flying but flies fine (210 hrs).
