Or go to Knox Regl RKD (Rockland) for convenience to Tenants Harbor if you take Lorn up on his recommendation. On the ground, stay midcoast, roughly Portland to Belfast or fly all the way to Bar Harbor BHB and see Acadia National Park. Maine has leaves but is more water and conifers. The coast is truly God's country. For Vermont Rutland RUT is a good choice, but also consider Lebanon NH, LEB. Signal Aviation (not Signature) is a first class FBO. Either one is in the heart of leaf country. In NY area the "absolutely must do" is to fly down the Hudson River at 1000 ft, fly over the George Washington Bridge, call your position opposite the Intrepid aircraft carrier, pass the Lady (Statue of Liberty), do a 180 or perhaps 540 in the middle of NY harbor, count the tankers and freighters then come up river at sunset as the lights come on in all those buildings that define Manhattan. Best ground transport into the city is from Teterboro TET. Or come see me in CT 40nm northeast at DXR, a very interesting airport, especially when the winds are out of the north.
