1. I fitted my nose gear door actuator according to the instructions (about
5 years ago!) These required a single hose from the gear actuator to the
bottom of the gear door actuator. I recently noted that the Lancair
Pre-flight Checklist calls for both holes of the nose gear door actuator to
be populated. The upper one should have a hose taken off the upper fitting
of the gear actuator. I presume this is to make the door open a fraction
of a second before the nosewheel knocks it open. However, in all my
testing the gear seems to have operated well and I wonder whether any other
builders have had any problems with the single hose installation?
2. Extended Wing Tips: I am about to fly my aircraft for the first time!
Initially the testing will be with the standard tips but I want to get the
extended tips checked out as well. Has any one got any data about the
performance with these tips?
3. The correct ICAO designation for the Lancair 320 is LNC2 not LC20 as is
depicted here!
My aircraft G-FOPP is all finished but I found a small leak in the fuel
injection unit. I am currently waiting for an exchange unit which I am
told will take 30 days. I am coming over to Washington DC next week so
that will soak up one week of frustration at waiting to fly.
