I have had the excact same experience.
I have only once asked them a tech question. It was about the factory installed phenolic anchor block for the nose gear hyd. cyl., which was 1  1/2" inch off in my kit. I got the "will call you back" answer, but the call back never happened. I found lots of help on LML, but can´t excactly thank Lancair for that. Thank you, by the way, guys!
I have asked Lancair for an options catalogue no less than 5 times, but haven´t received any answer to this at all.

I would really like to buy as much as possible from Lancair. They have developed a series of magnificent aircraft and i hope and expect that they will keep doing so. I must confess, though, that I have now given up doing business with them, realizing that it is next to impossible. Too bad, really, since I don´t think I owe ACS much loyalty, as opposed to Lancair.

I seriously fear the day some prospect Lancair buyer asks me about the factory support. The only honest answer would be "sorry buddy, haven´t seen much of that".

I wonder if Joe Bartels is aware of the apparently non existent after sales service and the amount of business lost, so perhaps an open letter to him would be appropriate?

Best regards
Tim Jorgensen
