There is a very obvious, damaged spot where you can see a crack in the material and some of the material is missing. I certainly can understand why the alternator gave up the ghost. I bought the engine new in 1997 and didnt fire it up until 2002 altho I was religious about the storage protocol. Evidently, that particular elastomier doesnt age well. Thanks again for all help.
