I got a response from Reiger Racing today. I faxed them a request for
info last Friday.
Here's the text:
Suspension for Lancair
Dear Sir,
Thank you for your fax.
Lancair dampers can be send to you in several lengths.
We do have to know the exact length, hart to hart in mm, how long the
dampers has to be. If you send us that information we can make shock
absorbers for you. We can not make them adjustable in length.
The shock absorbers costs Hfl. 1.050,-- a piece. You need two for a
Lancair so one set costs Hfl. 2.100,-- The price is tax included
(17.5%). Prices are ex mill, payment on delivery. If you order more
than 10 shockabsorbers at once. we can make a cheaper price.
We like to send you the dutch deliveryconditions. We can only deliver
under these conditions because of our assurrance.
We hope that we gave you enough information, otherwise please fax
or phone us.
With best regards,
Reiger Racing Suspension
Gerard Seesing
Does anybody have a handle on the exchange rate? I wasn't able to find
an Hfl. in the exchange rate library. A dutch gilder is now going for
$0.4974 USD. This would make a set $1045.00 plus shipping and import
duties. Does anyone have an estimate of what these other costs would be?
For those that have seen these or know of them, is there a service life?
or would these things outlast the airframe? Is there maintenance that
can be performed on a shock absorber? Can they be recharged?
I'm assuming that the "hart to hart" length means the center to center
dimension for the existing donut assembly. I would guess that this
dimension should be taken with the load taken off the gear. Also, the
length of left might be different than the right.
I be faxing again in a couple of days to ask more questions. If you have
any other issues bring them up here and I'll include them in the next fax.
