I installed the fuel shutoff in the same loation but in addition I acquired
a push pull throttle cable with a center aluminum push lock button.  The
button is red and installed on the left lower corner of the instrument panel
where it attaches to the fuselage and longeron. Appropriatly labeled in red
as:

Ememergency Shutoff
Pull-off, Push on.

The working end is attached to the existing valve handle supplied with the
kit and a holding bracket attached to the nose wheelwell.

You can save some weight by shortening the cable and install it in the
vicinity of your fuel manegement system and guages or on the  passenger side
of the panel.

Aircraft Spruce is the source for the cable.
