Gary,  Lancair recently increased the maximum takeoff weight to 1785 lbs.  You
must still land at a maximum of 1685 lbs.  I'm not sure what the regulatory
details are but I think some would say that builders can list any gross weight
they want.  Since you're not the builder, the new Lancair figures should be
appropriate.  320 flyers will probably tell you it's most important to watch CG
location.
