Subject: oil choices and making TBO

In April 2003, Flying, Richard Collins writes about his 1979 Cessna P210
with 8200 hours.

He makes the following statement:  "On my airplane all but 2 engines
have made TBO.  None have quit.  Knock on wood. What comes next is going
to sound like a commercial, but it is really a simple statement of fact.
On the engines that made TBO, I used Phillips XC multigrade oil.  I used
Aeroshell multigrade on one that didn't make TBO and the worst
experience was with an engine in which I used ill-fated Mobil Av1."

Has anyone out there had experience making or not making TBO on their
turbo engines? Which oil?
It is dangerous to jump to conclusions from one data point.
