Regarding the stresses on the gear fairing, I installed a small inspection plate over the gear leg bolt.  My bolt is entirely inside the fiberglass.  No stress there.  Works fine.  Only problem I had was in following the construction method that called for an epoxy joint only on the rear seam.  Mine cracked and in the repair I installed a two- bid over the seam before finishing.  Been great ever since.  My $.02.
