"We have demonstrated that bolting through the fiberfrax will work
satisfactorily..." (Lancair 320FB Instructions)
Recently, I had the opportunity to pull an extra 'g' in my 360, and would
like to recommend to all builders not yet finished that the AN970 washers
underneath the engine mounting points should be considered mandatory, not
optional. The fiberfax WILL compress, and the stainless steel WILL
dimple under a 2 'g' load,especially the lower 2 mounting points. Save
yourself some headaches....put the washers in now.
Also, since alot of builders are getting rid of the Nylaflow for their
brake lines....you might consider getting rid of the hydraulic hose and
fittings....replace them with Aeroquip 303 hose/491 fittings. I've
had a hydraulic problem for months. I have the prettiest 'hangar queen'
at the airport.
