That is obviously not the case with the IV>>

The confusion does lie with the difference between Lancair 2 place and LIV
brake lines.  In reference to using the DHI lines in place of the nylaflow,
I am only recommending this substitution for the LIV.  Much has been
written in the LNN and as well as here on the list, about the problems with
braking using nylaflow.  While it is not conclusive, many here feel
(including myself) that nylaflow is not the best product for use as brake
lines.  This does not mean that you would use DHI or any other substitute
for the exposed line from the axel to the caliper, or from the inner gear
well on the two place Lancairs down to the caliper.  Use the normal
aeroquip brake line in this application.  However, for the LIV, the line
which travels from the gear box down the inside of the gear leg must be
small in outside diameter so that it will pass around the trunion pin and
fit into the axle connector.  Using the DHI lines from the brake cylinders
(both pilot and copilot) to the hard lines mounted on the inside fuselage
wall is a luxury, however, as per Brent's comment a few days ago concerning
minimizing hydraulic tube diameter and minimizing wall expansion will give
a very solid brake feel and action.

If you fly out of Camarillo with 6000 ft x 150ft runway, don't worry about
it.  If you fly out of San Carlos  with 2500 ft as I do,  then spend the $$
on better brake lines.
