Hi folks,
A few months ago, I started working on my instrument rating using my Lancair 360 and am towards the end of my training (checkride is scheduled for next week).
As 'luck' would have it, I finally got some actual IMC time, a total of 3.5 hrs yesterday on my long cross-country IFR trip. Real cool stuff! :-)
Since I have never really had this plane in significant moisture, a couple of things occurred:
1. Lots of small paint chips at leading edge :-( (expected but still disappointing).
2. While in IMC, the low voltage light lit for about 1 or 2 minutes and the VM 800 voltage meter showed 11.5. I believe the amp meter was still charging, at a very low rate. Then, everything was normal.
3. VisionMicro fuel gauge on left wing showed erroneous values. I topped off the tanks and it only showed 10 gallons. Upon landing, it showed 0 gallons, but still had 10 gallons. Today, gauges is back to normal.!!???
Except for (1) above, anybody else have any similar experiences with the VisionMicro system when going through significant moisture (and static?). Since I'm off today, I did not get a chance to call VisionMicro with regard to the above occurrances but will call them tomorow...
