Unless the appropriate connectors are properly installed using the correct tools, you will find that all cables suck. Beg, borrow, steal or buy the right striping and crimping tools, get a few extra connectors and extra cable and make a few practice connections. Consider having someone who has done it before demonstrate it and look over your shoulder for the first one or two practice connections.
Yes, I know that the connectors are expensive and the tools are outrageously expensive. But what is the cost of not doing it right? How much time, money and frustration will it cost you fighting the autopilot and or the engine monitoring companies about their products going nuts every time you key the mike or every time the transponder gets hit?
