My 2002 Sun'N'Fun SUN 100 1st Place Trophy says 202.19 Kts in 24 Mins 20 Secs. So, 202.19 x 24.33 / 60 = 82 NM. 82 NM = 94.36 statute miles = 151.9 Km. Grayhawk
Grayhawk,
Based on the lat/long numbers at http://www.aircraftspruce.com/news.html and my trusty Garmin 195, I calculate the length of the Lakeland 100 mile race at 76.1 nm or 87.5 statute miles.
76.1 nm 3,600 sec That means: ----------- x ----------- = 187.64 knots 1,460 sec hr
or
87.5 nm 3,600 sec ----------- x ----------- = 215.75 miles per hour 1,460 sec hr
Scott, where is the error in our calculations. Please verify my GPS distance from the web sight listed above.
By the way, 187 knots just so happens to be the exact speed that I turned when racing at Fredericksburg, VA a couple of years ago.
Now who has the fastest plane...? It just couldn't be Sonic Boom?
And for all of you other "fast" 320's out there, lets see some REAL numbers. Put your throttle where your pens are. Lets see some proof. Join the races.
