I have glassed and reglassed, even tried inserting a metal brace in that area to no avail. While still "green" I've cured the work with the cowling fitted in place, post cure heating, etc. but over time, the crack as seen in the photo reappears. It looks like some method of reducing the vibration in that area, like graphite strands and/or a strengthening piece of some kind is required. All of this is with over 900 hours on my TACH. George Shattuck N320GS > At the top and front of top cowling just behind the prop spinner I added > additonal graphite fiber strands and several bid of glass and graphite > around and under the spinner area. Worked. I have no cracking.
