The important thing is to really stiffen up the door so that it cannot twist under aerodynamic load. I will measure the length of the slider when I get out of the deep freeze here in Dallas. My doors are more beefy (and heavier) than ones I have seen at Oskosh-- but IMHO, if you are going to have a problem getting your gear to come down, one major problem will be the gear door operation.
