I certainly agree with most of Brent's comments,
but "...the manuals are fine" I cannot agree with. Can I
get the project completed with the existing manuals? Probably, but at what
cost? For the ES at least, there have been numerous times when doing
it by the book has taken me down a path I later wished I hadn't taken.
Other times, upon the advise of other builders, I avoided later problems by
specifically not following the manuals. I suspect almost everyone on the
List has similar experiences. In my opinion the construction
manuals are long over due for updating.
