Okay Grayhawk, guilty as charged! In the past two months, I've been training for my IFR ticket and I've caught myself dropping the gear more the once before the magic 120 knots at or near the FAF.... One time, I did drop at 120 knots but then the controller ask me to go a few knots faster, which I did (135 knots) for a few minutes.
POH says 122 KTs Operating speed, 148 Kts max gear extended speed for emergency descent. Also, "after extension or operation above 122 Kts, you should look" at your drawers (opps, doors) "for loose or bent linkages and abrasion type wear".
IFR? Huh? Oh, you mean In Flight Raspberries!
