>>Impossible to build a 235 with an O-320 that comes

I concur with Pete regarding the degree
of difficulty in weighing under 1000#.
My plane weighs 1012# before fire extinguisher, tools, charts, flashlight,
headsets, etc (the upholstery weighs 12#). This plane has the ventral fin on the
fuselage and rudder, so an extra 3# of lead was needed to balance the ventral
fin addition to the bottom of the rudder.
I could subtract 12# by removing the harmonic balancer on the starter
ring gear. Then I need to find just another 1# somewhere to
get to 999#. Can't change the battery. The plane already has a
light weight one (15#). I could remove the small (2x2x4) backup battery
for the RMI Engine Monitor, or take out the copilot rudder pedals. Maybe I
could take out the copilot seat (4#). I might try sanding and buffing the
clear coat on entire plane a little further to lose another 1#.
The plane used to weigh 1013#. I saved a pound when I replaced
the main gear donut assemblies with the Ong shocks.
All these efforts are a long way from the low 900's.
