I don't think anyone did.  If they did, it was an O-200 or O-235 engine, a short prop, no interior finish, minimal avionics and instruments, no gadgets, very minimal paint, no electric aileron trim, no strobe or navigation lights, and no ELT.  (advantages:  less stuff to go bad)
 
In the very early building stages (way before fast build options), the factory downgraded the builders degree of main spar closeout, as it was deemed unnecessary.
