Several people asked why I felt the need to have the Garmin 430/MX20 combo given the capable features of the Sierra Flights Systems panel.  The answer is several reasons:

1) The SFS is not certified (yet) while the Garmin/MX20 combo is
2) This set up gives me multiple backups in case of failure. (i.e. 2 GPS, 2 MFD's )
3) In cruise I can configure the MX 20 for TCAD/Stormscope/terrain while the SFS is set for map and horizon screens.   On takeoff and climb I use the SFS for engine instruments while the MX 20 serves as moving map.

This capability of redundant back up plus flexible display options appeals to me and because I was retrofitting an existing panel, I had the room to spare.

I also found a place for a panel mounted Irridum Satalite phone hardwired into my audio panel.   Cool set up and I will post a pic when I figure out the new camera I got for Xmas!
