Either the "rat-trap" or the other style springs will keep the main gear over-center link locked even if all hydraulic pressure is lost. You merely have a leak or pressure maintenance issue somewhere in your hydraulic system. Good luck on fixing it at your next annual or sooner. So as not to frighten anyone, remember that the overcenter link, once overcenter, has the gear locked in position.  Either the "rat-trap" or the other style springs will keep the main gear over-center link locked even if all hydraulic pressure is lost.  You merely have a leak or pressure maintenance issue somewhere in your hydraulic system.
