hi all-
if an experimental newly built airplane has a requirement for 25 to 40 hours to be "flown off" by a solo pilot within a certain geographic area before a passenger/student(me) could also be in the plane, how does one get checked out/instruction in their newly built aircraft? one insurance agent told me that i would need 100 hours of dual in m/m(regardless of flight experience) before i could get insurance on a ivp meaning that between the faa and insurance requirements the aircraft may have 140 hours on it before i could fly it solo!!!!! do i understand the situation correctly? i don't really mind the dual instruction as presumably it would make me a safer pilot and several laps around the country and ?carribean could be fun but i'd sure like to be in the plane for the flyoff requirements and wouldn't feel comfortable flying it solo without adequate instruction with or without insurance requirements. ?catch 22?
safe holidays to all,
