Regarding brakes, my 360 was terrible - I could hardly hold the plane still on
a 1700 rpm runup! I too thought I needed to re-engineer the brakes. But the
pads were original to the 1996 kit and were needing replacement. I replaced
the pads a year ago with whatever Lancair ships now (Cleveland)?, broke them
in per Cleveland instructions on a box the mechanic had (1500 rpm, 15 mph,
1500 feet), let them cool for 15 minutes then tried them. It was a night and
day difference! Now it takes very little pedal pressure to hold the plane at
runup and stopping distance and effort on landing are much reduced. For you
ES guys, I would say the test is the runup. If you have trouble holding the
plane still, it's probably the pads.
