Hi guys,
The LML only accepts posts from subscribed email addresses. Period.
While the listserver is an amazing piece of hardware, running some pretty sophisticated software to facilitate our communications, the system is not clairvoyant... to it, "subscribers" aren't people, they're email addresses. So every time you try to send a message to the LML from an email address that isn't on its subscriber list it has no way of knowing that YOU have another email adress that _is_ subscribed, and it sends you one of those nasty "you-can't-post-to-this-list-because-you're-not-a-subscriber" emails.
What to do, what to do.........
If you have multiple email accounts at different ISP's, it is possible to receive your daily dose of LML at only one of those addresses and still be able to post from any of the other ones without receiving anything from the LML at those other addresses, which makes them "posting only" addresses. Here's the trick... Let's say that you have 3 email accounts, home, work, and a travel account. You want to receive your LML email at your home address only, and still retain your posting privileges from the work and travel accounts without incoming LML emails clogging them up. To keep things simple, let's assume that your home address is already subscribed and that's where the LML is sent to you. When you get to work tomorrow, send a blank email from your work email address to the following:
lml-null@lancaironline.net
Do the same thing from your travel account, making sure that your travel email address in in the "From" box in the header. Be sure to reply to the confirmation emails that the listserver will send you (just follow the directions in the confirming email) and you'll then be able to post from those alternate addresses. That's all there is to it.
If you've got any questions about this, feel free to drop me a line off list... glad to help out.
