Hello Jarrett,
I'm 6'2" also. My little brother is 6'7". He can fly our 320. There are a
couple of things that you can do to maximize leg room.
1. Use the adjustable rudder pedals. They have a narrower "footprint" than
the standard setup and you can, therefore, put the subfloor much lower. We
made the subfloor under the rudder pedals just high enough off the fuselage
bottom to make room for the nutplate that holds the pedal assembly down. We
also angled the subfloor a little (lower aft). Anything that puts your feet
lower will give you more shin room under the panel.
2. Make your own panel. We made our panel out of .060 7075-T6 aluminum. We
made the bottom of the panel about an inch higher than the factory panel. I
may be biased, but I think that it look a lot better than the fiberglass
panel too. It gives you a lot more flexibility since you don't have to put
the radios in the center section that sticks out about an inch. The reason
for this, as I understand it, was to make room for those 14-15 inch long
radios of yesteryear. Today all the radios are MUCH shorter and the center
"extension" is unnecessary. Let me know if you'd like pictures.
3. Put the seat back bulkhead as far aft on the spar as possible and angle
it at the max angle. This won't give you much, but every little bit helps.
4. Make your seat cushions to fit YOU. If you're 6'4" and you put in a 3"
cushion, you ain't a gonna fit. The temperfoam does a very nice job with
minimal thickness. We had Oregon Aero make up our cushions. I highly
recommend them. They are VERY expensive but worth every penny! In other
words, a good VALUE.
BTW, when my 6'7" little brother flys, we take out the cushions altogether
and he takes his wallet out of his back pocket too. Not pretty but it works.
Hope this helps, let me know if you want pictures.
