The Lancair manual says go out of reflex at 140 KTIS. Gear down at  120
KTIS.  I do all this stuff on the 45 degree entry.  If speeds are too hot, I
climb steeply to get speed to 140 then drop the flaps.  That starts the
procedure and then you can do a steeper descent with slower speeds with
reflex out and gear down.  All this is done before you enter downwind at
pattern altitude..
