The text capability is there, but limited, due to a 1-minute constraint on download from the satellite (as I understand it). This could be increased, I believe, - but would significantly increase cost. There are issues that he feels need to be resolved before he would unequivocally recommend it - - ESPECIALLY as a sole-source GPS map data. He is optimistic that it will be more reliable within 12 month.
