<<Also, what do you think of the posting that said that STec recommends
using both Nav and Apr controls on the box do to the "purity" of the GPS
signal? >>
I'm not sure how that would work.?
We do know that sensitivity increases on APR mode and it gets really active
in staying on the course. That's the recommended setting for GPS course, not
for VOR though.
I'm trying to remember, but aren't the buttons canceling? Would it act like
ANR headsets do to cancel noise???
I have the TruTrack system now-- so I'm digging this up from several years
ago.
And YES Ted, I assumed several things that I didn't mention.
Are flight controls free and two finger in low altitude, non pressurized
cruise. Is the geometry of A/P push-pull tube (cable)correct. Is all
hardware correct and secure.
THEN, IF it doesn't have the muscle to fly the plane- Even pressurized--
Tighten the clutch until it does AND you're sure you can overpower it, and
land with it trying to do a roll.
PS
Have you ever put your trim at full travel (up-Down especially)
at cruise speed to see IF you're able to maintain level flight??
You might want to do a load test of the push tubes BEFORE you try this. I
have seen some VERY bad rod ends and rivets you wouldn't trust in your
grandkids Radio Flyer.
You might just want to limit trim servo travel after this test.
