Deer on runways may be a thing of the past in a few years. Wisconsin has Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) among deer, which has now spread over the Illinois state line into our county. This relative of Mad Cow Disease is a serious threat to deer, and it may even cross the species line into beef and dairy herds.
In any event, it is spreading radially from the initial site at about a hundred miles in the last 10 months. Stay tuned for another round of apocolyptic predictions...
