I took N990Y out for brake pad conditioning and low speed taxi tests. With only two squawks generated I am pleased. Testing went well. I soon heard a call from another Lancair owner/builder, Ken Hetge, who heard the racket. I noticed him standing at the back of his hangar, portable radio in hand, wondering if it was me. I don't know who else is building an IV-P in Tehachapi. Yes, it was I and we had a short conversation as you can only do at an uncontrolled airport on the unicom frequency. What fun! My squawks were prop overspeed, third run and first time applying any power. Also, no oil temp indication. Both were easily fixed. I checked the pins on the firewall lower plug and found that one. I made an adjustment to the governor and will run again tomorrow. Hopefully, the low pitch stop is ok as is. Boy, it's nice to be getting near the end of this project. I can't wait to fly. Walter Dodson IV-P 99% and 15% to go. ps: Getting close means working harder than ever... Anybody want me to build one for you? I'm soon available.
