Allyson and I have implemented the “nylon
block” solution to the Legacy’s canopy opening problem suggested by
Graham Nutt.
The canopy latch handle open stop needs to be changed
so that the latch claws protrude 7/16” when the handle is up/unlatched. For us,
the top edge of the latch handle slot now ends 2 7/8 inches from the top edge. We shaped some foam for the slot and covered
it with 2 BID of carbon.
Attach a nylon block to the top of each latch
plate. Cut it from 1/8” nylon
sheet. It should be about 2 inches wide
and 1 inch high if you mount it so the top edge lines up with the top of the
latch plate.
With this modification, when unlatching the canopy the
claws push up on the nylon block opening the canopy almost ¾” providing a
nice edge to grab to help get it on its way going up.
