I've recently seen a couple of references to the Legacy glare shield.  It appears it simply does not fit -- not even close.  I know of two builders who have put several hours into trying to adapt the glare shield.  Both gave up.  One of them made a glare shield from scratch, the other is considering cutting up the part from Lancair and rebuilding it.  I know Lancair has been made aware of this but I haven't heard what they plan to do about it.

Last week I installed the nose gear on my Legacy and ran into an interesting problem.  The manual says to position the bearing blocks so that there is between 1 and 5 degrees of forward rake on the nose gear strut.  When I positioned mine for 1.5 degrees of forward rake the nose gear would not fully retract.  The U-shaped bend in the tubular portion of the over center link would make contact with the oleo and the whole mechanism would bind.  I had to back off to 0.5 degreess of rake for everything to work properly.  I called Lancair and talked it over with Carsten and Tim Ong.  Their conclusion was that it was ok to go down to 0 degrees of rake if needed.
