I can't comment on what works (still on the ground) for engine cooling, but
I thought perhaps the 320 needed more exit area. I put on two vents in the
lowest pressure region I could find under the cowling parallel to the air
stream. I think it might offer two benefits: more exit area and as the air
volume and velocity increase past the exit bowl it should create lower
pressure, drawing more air out of the back.
I attached a picture of the vents for anyone who would like to see or
comment.

Lancair 320/360 could not fly with the gear down for more than 20 minutes
without overheating, mostly since those cooling inlets are pretty small --
great for cruise but less so for slower flight -- and we don't have cowl
flaps. Anybody have comments on this?
