Has anyone gone thru the alignment procedure for a L-IV that is outlined on page 19-94.3 in the manual?
I understand that after making the measurements called for, the results are sent to Ross at the factory and he sends back a set of shims to correct the TOE ANGLE. I was thinking of having the shims cut locally and would like to know:
1. what was the factory charge for the shims?
2. How long did it take?
3. Did the new shim replace one of the 3 spacers already in place
and ,if so, which one.
4. Were longer bolts needed and, if so, what size?
5. Did the caster need adjusting and, if so, was a separate shim
used and, if so, where did this shim go??
6. Did adding the "TOE ANGLE" shim affect the available space
for the tire in the wheel-well and, if so, what corrective action
was required?
On a different topic, I am thinking of replacing my McCreedy tires with Goodyears. Has anyone done this without having to enlarge the tire opening in the fuselage? Was there any problem with the fit of the one piece gear doors?.
Appreciate any info, Thanks - Bill Hogarty L-IV @ 96%
