Greg,

The Unison Lasar was my choice because,

1. Any failure reverts to a magneto driven system - no special wiring, no special backup battery.

2.  Simple install.  I hung the Lasar controller from the left engine mount frame.  Magneto reversion light mounted on panel.  Circuit breaker mounted nxt to controller.

3. Mags contain twice as many magnets as normal mag.  If you use Hall effect device in mag's vent to pick up rpm, you will have to account for this.  A modern VM1000 or EPI800 system has a jumper for this change.

4. Performance improvements are indeed noticable.  Zippier takeoff runs, energetic climbs, more power for the same fuel burn.
