This is after all a forum of folks that are clearly certifiably crazy since we "build our own airplanes". Is it really that much to expect a LNC2 to function for 12 hours straight ?? I've got a few hundred hours on mine at this point and it certainly seems reasonable to expect that if pointed in the correct direction and given enough gas you'd get to Hawaii. I imagine it was a lot harder in the pre GPS days that navigation was a major impediment, but with a modern GPS ( and a backup ) it just doesn't seem like that great a risk if planned CAREFULLY. Anyway I didn't get much response on the max takeoff weight. A few of you admitted to 1900 lbs, but I was really hoping some crazy nut ( I mean this only in a good way ) would admit to 2100 lbs since that'll allow me to bring along food and water along with the life raft !! Ah well back to the planning whiteboard !! Of course I've never made a pacific crossing ( or the atlantic for that matter ), nor have I tried to keep my lancair in the air for 12hrs straight before !! I'd love to hear from anyone that has made any ferry flights in their LNC2, if their are any of you out there !! Ken
