To Pine:
I'm a little behind the times what with the holidays and all, just
got a look at your query about those tabs welded to the main gear upper
horizontal shafts. Yes indeedy, those were attached there to activate the
mechanical gear door closures. If, as most everybody else, you are going
with the hydraulic actuation, you can (and probably should) cut those
suckers off. Probably the best way, in order not to screw with whatever
normalizing was done when they were welded on is just to take a hacksaw
to them about 1/4 inch from the weld. Smooth things off with a file so
you won't cut yourself later, during inspections, spray something on
the bare metal to inhibit corrosion (Rustoleum paint, maybe) and get on
with things.
