I used 3/16 OD hard aluminum lines all the way to the gear weldment area.

It is recommended to use 5052-0 AL because it is easily flared and
bends with simple tools.  The 3/16 OD lines which are .132" ID work well
with the -3 fittings available from many sources.  Where flex is
required, I used -3 stainless steel braided teflon lines and Super Jem
fittings from the Industrial line of Aeroquip catalog JA316.  I went
through the wing close out web with -3  bulkhead fittings. It's been
operating without any problems  for three years.  If we have room I will
try to get some pictures of the installation in a future issue of the LNN.

I'm glad to see some discussion on this issue.  There have been many
incidents of Lancairs departing the runway due to brake failures,
including the Dream Catcher many years ago.  Most of these incidents are
not showing up on the GOV accident list.   There is no redundant
system (a sterable nose wheel) for us to fall back on other than maybe
having landed on a real long runway with favorable winds  when either
the left or right brake failed.  Failure of one brake makes the other
just about useless.  A little extra $$ and time spent on your brakes
is a good investment considering new blades for your prop and a
precautionalry engine tear down could cost $10,000 or more or less.  I
estimate that I added $150-$200 to the cost of my Lancair by tossing the
Nylaflow system and going with aircraft quality or better material.
