I've just about completed my LC20 panel using the factory fiberglass
instrument panel. I ran into 2 problems that could be avoided.
1) The bottom of the directional gyro hits the crossover weldment for the
stock canopy setup. I mounted the bottom row of instruments at the very
bottom of the panel. Leaving 1/2 to 1 inch gap from the bottom of the
panel would have prevented the interference.
2) My Flightcomm Intercomm, originally mounted on the right hand side where
the switches are often found ( on the very bottom ), also interferes with
the canopy crossover weldment. I relocated it to another location.
I built my panel ahead of time and then installed it in the aircraft.
These interference fits aren't found until its too late.
