Well, depleted Uranium gives more weight than lead, but the label "depleted"
is a misnomer--it is still hotter than heck!  I had some once, and it ran
about 50 mR.  Wouldn't glow in the dark, but would spark if you scratched it.

Tungsten carbide powder or tungsten powder works very well, but try drilling
the excess out!  

The lead shot or cast lead works fine, and can be drilled easily.
