I am taking Formation Flying training in the Detroit area.

My instructor had me take out the passenger seat back so his parachute would fit. My question is: "With the original canopy(not hinged forward), can you get out?".

One time I forgot to latch all 4 latches. After about 5 minutes, I thought that the plane sounded a little loud. No Problem, I latched the latches. This implies, to me, that there is a pretty good force holding the canopy down, when in flight. Does anyone know if that force can be broken?

I am flying formation with an RV-4. If anyone with a Lancair could make a commitment to come to south central Michigan(KADG) once a week from 0900 till 1300 hours, the formation flight training would be free.
