With all this talk about stalls and AOA, I have a couple questions.  In
my Legacy2k, I am getting a SFS EFIS2000 with the AHARS.  After talking
with Kirk about the AOA in my panel, he suggested I scrap it, as the SFS
has a PLI in it which uses information from the AHARS and the info on
gross weight and Vx and Vy and calculates a value that it overlays on
the PFD.  Any comments on this?

What about stall strips on an L2k?

Shannon,

Lancair designed the Legacy after experience with 235/320/360, IV, ES, Columbia, etc.  It better not need stall strips to fix a design problem.

Any real AOA device measures what is happening at the wing.  We are flying Amateur Built Experimental aircraft and, regardless of the jigging, are different from each other as noted by the various manufacturer's name in the ID plates and the lack of a type certificate.  Do not rely on a calculated anything, rely only on a dynamic measure which takes into account that you can put any weird modification on your bird that tickles your fancy (I have been searching for my fancy for years - haven't found it yet).

There are no fool-proof answers since fools are so ingenious (I forget the Latin for this)!
