The antenna blades do pass through the skin/rib joins in two or three places, but the remaining bond joints are considered sufficient to hold the skin in place. Also, the blades are covered with a single bid--mostly to hold them in place. Concept is that they will flex a bit relative to the skin during heating and cooling to no bad effect as long as they physically stay in place.
