Back to building basics.  I’d appreciate your expertise.

I’m into building my IV-P horizontal tail.  I have opened hinge access “ports” in the lower leading edge of the elevators.  I’ve heard that some builders have made covers for their access ports to tidy up the area. Prevent snow packing, etc.  Anyone done that?  Or is it just a nasty rumor?  Any suggestions?  Care to share?  Pictures?  Bringing it to Oshkosh to show off?

ps.  I expect to see the left/right, stall/no stall things all worked out and settled in LML before my first flight.  (I’m already committed to all electric/no vacuum.)
