After replacing my strut I had a problem with one of my bolts on the
overcenter link just barely touching the strut.  It prevented free fall
but allowed hydraulic extension.  This was due to inserting it
backwards. Double check yourself.   Headside should've been near the
cylinder.  Got lucky on that one.
